11 Weird And Wonderful Things You Can Do With Toothpaste

Does it seem like I’ve been talking about teeth a lot lately? Last week I wrote about uses for floss, and today we’ll be talking about toothpaste hacks. My dental hygienist must have really gotten into my head during my last cleaning! 😉 But in my defense, my main priority is to gather and share useful ideas, and pacing out those topics and ideas tends to fall by the wayside. So I hope you’ll forgive my temporary fixation on oral health topics! 🙂

But I digress! Today I have 11 brilliant ideas to share with you today, and they all have one thing in common—toothpaste! Toothpaste isn’t only useful for keeping your teeth and gums clean. It can also be surprisingly useful for a variety of household tasks! Before we dive in, I wanted to mention that the type of toothpaste you use does make a difference. Most of these toothpaste hacks work best with paste-style toothpaste, rather than the gel kind. Just something to keep in mind!

Clean Your Headlights

You know that hazy film that builds up on your car’s headlights over time? You can get rid of it using toothpaste! Just squeeze a bit of toothpaste onto a rag, then rub the paste all over your headlights. The toothpaste will cut through the grime and leave them looking much clearer! Follow up by buffing them clean with a dry cloth.

Get rid of that onion smell on your hands

When chopping onions sometimes it takes a rigorous wash to get rid of the smell and juices that spray onto your hands. Dab a little toothpaste on your fingertips and rub gently, mix in some warm water and wash your hands. The smell and residue will be gone within seconds.

Clean Rubber Soles

If you have a pair of shoes with white rubber near the soles, then you already know how dirty it can get! Use toothpaste to help whiten and brighten the rubber. Just apply a bit of toothpaste to the rubber and scrub it with an old toothbrush to loosen dirt and grime. Wipe the dirt and toothpaste away using a damp cloth.
